The problem with climate change

Of course, one problem is that it's a huge problem in general, with massive numbers in question, and requiring huge populations to make changes. And of course, another problem is that it's exponential, with the damage getting worse and worse, especially as tipping points are reached, wars proliferate, etc.

But there's a third problem. We still haven't completely won, even when we win.

We have not even reached the first step yet: ensuring our emissions do not climb year-on-year. We are close to it, admittedly.

But after we do that, we need to actually start reducing our emissions. We need to reach net-zero. We are still decades away from that goal.

But after we reach net-zero, if we do, we haven't solved the problem still. The world will still be significantly above preindustrial levels. Sea levels will still rise. Climate refugee numbers will still increase. We need to make sure we reach net zero with enough time left to allow for the ramifications of ours actions to settle in.

And even then, to bring the temperatures back down will take even longer. All the while, we will have to live with the damage we have caused.
